Italian Masterclass Review by A Bavarian Sojourn

We love this witty account of Romano’s ‘Essentially Italian’ Masterclass, beautifully written by prolific blogger Emma of A Bavarian Sojourn. You can catch up on the full day of food and fun in her blog post here.

A fantastic group of five students participated in the class. We even celebrated a birthday, as the course was a gift from one participant to another. What a great idea!

We cooked up a deliciously filling risotto which was enjoyed for lunch, along with some Prosecco. We avoided the food coma in the afternoon by making our own focaccia dough and learning how to assemble a zuccotto, a no-bake domed dessert from Italy.

Emma has an excellent eye for photography and captured the day through her lens. Her blog post is such an amusing read and makes “feeling like a stuffed focaccia” a good thing!

Emma’s enthusiastic feedback on the class and her kind words about Paola as a person and teacher were very much appreciated.

It was a pleasure to have Emma join us in our first ever cookery class in our brand new kitchen. Her wonderful blog is at thesojournseries.com and she can be found on Twitter, and particularly Instagram where she shares many of her stunning travel photos.

On 24 May, Romano’s held a fringe event for Eat Cambridge, a two-week festival of local food & drink. Romano’s Paella Masterclass took place at the newly re-opened Black Horse in Dry Drayton in their lovely function room. Paola taught participants how to make Paella Valenciana in a fun and interactive group. Everyone enjoyed feasting on paella at the end of the evening.

Food blogger Pina of One Two Culinary Stew helped out with the event but also shared her experience on her blog, which you can read here. There are some wonderful photos of delicious food (those prawns!) and happy faces.

We’d like to give thanks to The Black Horse’s Amanda and Colin for letting us have the space, all our enthusiastic participants for being so delightful and Pina for her post. Her food blog is at onetwoculinarystew.com and she can be found on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
